Upcoming Federal Election

Your responses to OTA’s Policy and Advocacy survey will also help inform our approach to advocacy ahead of the federal election. While there’s no confirmed date for the election at this stage, the election may be called anytime between August 2024 and May 2025, and OTA is already preparing to ensure OT issues are on the agenda.  

According to the survey results, the top three issues that respondents were most likely to support in candidates' or parties' election policies were: 

• Investment in the OT workforce: 90.39% of respondents indicated they were ‘likely’ or ‘very likely’ to support a party or candidate committed to this. 

• Investment in public health systems (including hospitals and Medicare): 84.57% of respondents indicated they were ‘likely’ or ‘very likely’ to support a party or candidate committed to this. 

• Investment in the NDIS: 84.09% of respondents indicated they were ‘likely’ or ‘very likely’ to support a party or candidate committed to this.
